ABOUT THIS HUNT:
This hunt was with my good friend Nayo who previously had guided me to an excellent Desert Sheep, Desert Muledeer and Coues Deer.

No worries for me. This was the closest thing to a vacation with plenty of rest and relaxation. Nayo puts it all together real nice. We were hunting great big canyons and heard them gobbling from a distant canyon.

On the first day I bagged a nice Tom right away from 15 yards. Things unfolded so fast there was no footage of this hunt and my cameraman wasn’t even set up. Normally, I’d pass and wait but c’mon 15 yards. I couldn’t resist!

The next day we headed out for the canyons again. We had put them to bed the night before so we were pretty confident they’d be there for us. I was aggressively calling and made sure to put some motion in the decoy by rocking it a little with the attached string. Man! They came in on a string for us from nearly 200 yards away! I shot the second Tom from 10 yards.

I’m heading back in 2006 to hunt with Nayo for Oscillated Turkey! Stay tuned…
